People used to send postcards. Erie's postcards are especially interesting.
There was no internet...no television, and not even radio in many cases.
So people wrote to each other. The penny postcard was a popular way
to tell family and friends about exciting travels, and if everyone is doing
 "fine".
The history and beauty of Erie is wonderfully captured in the nearly 100 historic postcards that are being shared here.

The Top Ten Reasons Why You'll Love
Eriepostcards.com:

1. There are over 75 cards from the early 20th century Erie.
Just think...if you caught 75 perch at the Dock,
you would stink pretty good. When you finish with our
site you will wreak with the smell of Erie History.
2.  GE and Hammermill. They have cards here...you know
you're curious if they had locomotives and paper back then.
3.  You can navigate 2 ways. With the Guided Tour and with
Categories. It's kind of like going to the Peninsula...you can
use 12th street or you can use 26th...but either way, you're
going  to end up with sand in your car.
4.  You can send an E-card from Erie, PA. Imagine the thrill
that your loved ones will experience when they receive
a card from the very place that they (and the rest of the
       world) wishes they were.
5. Sign the Guestbook! The entire world has access to this
website, yet your one opinion matters to us. Kinda makes
you stop and think, doesn't it?
They're cheaper (at least for now) than beanie babies,
and they don't wear those annoying tie-dyed shirts.
7. You can visit the Erie Store. There you will find historical
books, historical videos, knick-knacks, and even some
stuff that is totally unrelated to Erie, but which I like.
     Hey...it's my site.
8. You can donate images to us. Those images can be seen
by the WHOLE WORLD, and I'll give you credit for them
and a lovely link stating your name and the site of your choice.
A People magazine feature could be in your future.
9. You can right-click on the images and make them into lovely
decorative wallpaper. I think you'll find it so much easier
     than faux painting.
10. You can go to Waldameer, without having to ride the scrambler.
